The Suluk Graduate Studies Overview
"It gives me great pleasure to announce the introduction of Suluk Graduate Studies. The first Graduate Studies unit will focus on the Indo-Sufi heritage of Murshid's teachings. Subsequent units will focus on the Activities (the Esoteric School, Kinship, Universal Worship, Healing, and Zira'at) and Pir Vilayat's teachings. I warmly invite all graduates of the Core Course to join us in this continuation of the Suluk journey." - Pir Zia
The Graduate Studies will be an ongoing course of studies. At this time, we are planning to meet twice a year - the first session will be a four-day intensive study with Pir Zia, the second session will be a retreat with Pir Zia, likely in May of 2012. Registration will be on a first-come first-served basis.

Dates and Location
November 16-20, 2011 – at The Abode in New Lebanon, NY.
What is the purpose of a “graduate program”?
- To go deeper into Murshid’s teachings
- To continue the Suluk journey – which is an ongoing process and commitment
- To continue building our spiritual community
- To be in the presence of and continue studying with our Pir and spiritual teacher
What will the sessions be like?
We will likely meet three times a day with Pir Zia and then in smaller, self-facilitated groups. There will be no facilitated mentor groups. There will be individual time for doing practices.
Expectations between sessions - Pir Zia will assign readings and practices. We will also create a way for the community to stay in touch and for the small groups (pods) to meet between sessions.
Who can attend - Anyone who has graduated from either the four or two-year core training (and is in good financial standing with SOI); mentors and faculty are also welcome to join us! Saliks and salikas from the Alif class will be welcome to attend as well, but will be expected to begin a course of supplemental training prior to enrolling in the Graduate Studies.
What will it be like going forward?
We see this first session in November a bit like a “pilot session” where we can try it out and then do a survey to collect information on what people liked, what else they would like… and then we can launch a full-fledged program based on our collective experience and your responses.
